Happy 10 Months Eli

Another month has passed and my baby boy is 10 months old. It doesn't seem right. I am sure the next 2 months are going to fly by. Christmas will be here before we know it and then he will be almost 11 months. Then there will be less than 5 weeks til his birthday. Wow a year can sure fly by.

I have loved every minute of the past 10 months and I am so excited to see what the future holds for my sweet baby boy!

I Love this Sweater Vest!!

We got this little sweater vest as a gift last Christmas from Eli's Great Grandma Reger. It is such a cute little sweater vest. I couldn't wait for him to wear it when we got it. The first time he wore it was for his 3 month pictures. It was a little big, but it still fit him. I tried it on him today and I couldn't believe that it still fit and he will be 10 months tomorrow! He hasn't worn it for a while because I assumed that it didn't fit him anymore.

More Thanksgiving and More Christmas

Today was filled with more Thanksgiving and more Christmas. We went over to Mike's parents house to celebrate Thanksgiving and help decorate the Christmas tree. It was a great day. Eli had some sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, a bite of a roll, and some cranberry jello. He really enjoyed trying these new foods. After dinner Eli got his first Christmas present. Grandma and Grandpa Reger got Eli his first Christmas Ornament. It was fun to watch him try to unwrap it. He was much more interested in the paper.

This use to be Mike's reindeer and now it is Eli's, I love this sort of thing!!!

Eli also got to try his very first sucker!!

He really liked the bell that was on the paper!

He loved the paper!

Checking out the ornament, mommy loves it!

Hanging the ornament on the tree with mommy!!!
This is the ornament that Mike and I had picked out to give Eli but Grandma and Grandpa beat us to it. I guess we will just have to find a different one to give him! :-)

Christmas Time!

It is officially Christmas time!!!! The day after Thanksgiving means it is time to get ready for Christmas. So that is exactly what I have been doing. Eli and I got up early this morning and went Christmas shopping. I was a little nervous about taking him out so early, but it worked out better than I could have imagined. He has been waking up once to eat lately so I just got him up at 4:00 and fed him and got him in his carseat and headed to Walmart. I left Eli in his carseat and hooked that to the stroller. I figured he would fall right back asleep but he stayed awake for a little bit. I got what I needed at Walmart and we headed out of there. It was way to crazy for us. We then went to Meijer, which is right across the street. Eli fell asleep on the way to Meijer. I got what I needed at Meijer and headed out. Our next stop was Walgreens but it didn't open til 7:00. I stopped and got some gas and then got some breakfast from McDonalds and made it to Walgreens by 6:15 to sit and wait. Eli was sound asleep. He woke up when we were going into Walgreens and looked around and jabbered so I figured we would just head home after Walgreens. We got we needed and got back in the car. I started to head home and Eli fell back to sleep so I decided to head over to Kohls and meet up with my mom and Jackie. I got what I needed and made it home by 8:30, Eli was still asleep. I had to wake him up. I am so glad that I went. I got some really great deals and it definately put me in the Christmas mood!!!

Since I was in the mood for Christmas we decided to decorate our Christmas tree. This was Eli's first Christmas tree experience. It was so wonderful. Eli wasn't too sure what we were doing, but he was very interested in the tree, especially when we turned on the lights. We had him sitting near the tree and he got on the floor and rolled over to it and looked up at the lights. It was very sweet. I can tell I am going to be taking a lot pictures in the weeks to come!!! I am so excited for Eli's first Christmas and my first Christmas as a mommy!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Today was such a wonderful day! I have so much to be thankful for. I have the most wonderful family and it was so great to have everybody celebrate at our house!!! Eli woke up completely fever free and feeling much better. Unfortunately Tracy and Grace were sick and didn't get to come. We still made sure to keep Eli and Sunjay away from each other and I didn't hold Sunjay and Katie didn't hold. We wanted to keep the germs away from baby Sunjay. Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful. I just love this meal. Eli even got to enjoy it. Grandma gave Eli a few bites of mashed potatos and noodles. He loved it. I am excited to start feeding him some table foods. :-)

Eli eating breakfast in his new chair!! Grandma gave Eli a new chair. It has a higher back and she made a cover for it with his name on it. Eli loves it and so do I!!!

What I am most thankful for!!! Eli also said a new word today....... Ma Ma!!!!! YAY!!!

I think the trytophan got to baby Sunjay! :-)

Eli reading with his cousin Jessica

Aunt Jackie and Baby Sunjay, he is just so small!

Grandma brought crafts for the kids to do. Everyone got to color their ornaments. Isaac and Alex both colored a Christmas tree and Isaac watched Alex and colored his the exact same way. It was so sweet. It is really great to get all the cousins together.

Eli's First Dr Appointment

Today Eli had to go to the Dr. Technically this isn't his first Dr appointment, but this was the first time he has gone because he was sick and not just for a check up. My poor baby boy just doesn't feel well. I noticed monday Afternoon that Eli felt a little warm, but figured it was probably jus his teeth. As the evening went on I notice that his fever was getting worse. Before he went to bed he had a temperature of 101.4. I gave him some tylenol and got him to sleep. Eli still had a fever between 101 and 102 all day Tuesday. He also stopped eating his baby food. Eli never refuses food so I knew something wasn't right. He also kept spitting up mucus. He was so miserable. He woke up this morning with a fever of 101.6. So I called the Dr. They were concerned that it could be an ear infection and had me bring him in. Luckily his ears are good, but the Dr. said his throat looked red and irritated. Unfortunately we just have to ride this one out with tylenol and motrin. I do think his fever is going doing already. The Dr said the if he still had a fever tomorrow he probably shouldn't be around baby Sunjay since he is only 1 week old. So hopefully he wakes up fever free so we can all enjoy our Thanksgiving and so my baby boy feels better. It just breaks my heart when he doesn't feel well.

Fun Weekend

Eli and I had a great weekend. On Saturday we went up to Fowler visit my dad and stepmom. Eli loved checking out all of their toys and he was pretty fascinated by their cat Snoopy. It was a lot of fun getting to spend the night there. We usually don't get to stay overnight because of Reggie and Maggie, but since Mike had class and wasn't able to come with us he got to stay home with the puppies. I was a little nervous how Eli would do sleeping since we haven't stayed away from home very much. I was trying to rock him to sleep and he was fighting me so I decided just to lay him down in the pack and play and let him cry for a few minutes and then try again. He fussed for a few minutes and then was sound asleep. I was shocked. While visiting in Fowler Eli learned something new. I have been trying for the longest time to get Eli to clap and he just wasn't interested. On Saturday my dad was trying to get Eli to clap and he did. I guess he just wanted to clap for his Papa. It was very cute.

Checking out Snoopy with Papa!!!

On Sunday we got together with some of my friends from high school. It was so great to catch. It was just like old times, except now we all have babies!! It has been 3 1/2 years since all 4 of us have gotten together. A lot has changed since then, but it is good to see that our friendship hasn't. And now that we all have babies there are so many stories to catch up on and share. It was great to let the babies play while we got caught up. Eli was a little stand offish at first. I think he was just tired. I laid him down in Sienna's bed and he fell right asleep. I couldn't believe it. When he woke up and I fed him he was in a much better mood. Then he really wanted to check out the toys. There was one toy in particular that he liked. We stood him up next to the little walker and he just started walking with it. I couldn't believe it. I thought for sure he would just lean forward until he fell. He walked across the room, I turned him around, and he walked back. I sure hope he is getting a toy like this for Christmas!!

Me and Eli (9 months), Tara (Baby Brielle due in Jan), Sam and Sienna(almost 1), Michelle and Landon(5 months)

It wasn't easy to get the 3 of them to sit still for a picture, but this on turned out pretty good!

My Mover

Eli no longer just lays still in bed. He moves all over the place. I have found him facing every different direction. Through the monitor I can hear him roll on his stuffed sea horse that makes noise. One night I went to check on him because the sea horse kept going off and Eli had fallen asleep with his head pressed against it. :-) Today he took 2 decent naps. He fell asleep on his own and woke up happy both times. His morning nap was a little over 45 minutes and his afternoon nap was almost 2 hours.

This is how he fell asleep for his morning nap.

And this is how he woke up from his afternnon nap.

Teething Is No Fun!!!

I swear Eli is constantly teething. His bottom 2 teeth came in no problem. He got one at 6 months and one at 7 months. They each took about a week to come in and weren't too painful. His top teeth are a different story. He got one around 8 months and one around 9 months and they both took about 3 weeks to come in completely. They also seemed to be much more painful. He just got his 4th tooth a few weeks ago but I think we are teething agian. I can feel at least 1 more on its way and there could be more. His mouth is very sensitive right now so I can't really check to see if and where they are coming in at.

Eli is also still having some tummy issues. I thought it was getting better, but this week has been pretty bad. We have already had to do prunes twice this week. It is a good thing that they work. It was really bad on Monday night. I could tell all day on Monday he was having a hard time going and was a little fussy. He went to bed at 7:30 just fine. He then woke up at 12:00 screaming. I tried to comfort him but he was so upset. Usually if I can't get him back to sleep all I have to do is nurse him and he goes back to sleep. He was refusing to eat. I tried nursing him and he just screamed harder. He has never done this before. I finally got him back to sleep at 1:30 and the he woke up again at 5:00 screaming again and refusing to eat. I got him back to sleep at 6:00 and then he was up for the day at 7:00. I fed him some prunes for breakfast and then tried to nurse him at 9:30 before his nap. He was still refusing to nurse. I decided to try pumping and giving him a bottle to try and get him to eat something. He drank 3 oz out of the bottle which is better then nothing. At this point I was starting to get worried, but by lunch he had filled his diaper twice and was fine to nurse before his afternoon nap. He goes back to the Dr at the beginning of Dec for the 2nd dose of his flu shot so I will ask the Dr about this then. Until then I will just be thankful for prunes!

A Few Random Pictures!!!

Eli in his new winter jammies, he is so soft I just want to hug him all the time :-)

He loves his blankies

I think this is his favorite toy, he really likes to stand next to it but if I can't be right there with him he doesn't mind sitting with it.

Eli's new winter hat

He wasn't too sure of the mittens.

Busy Busy Busy

My days have been quite a bit busier lately. I am watching kids full time now. I have anywhere between 2 - 5 kids (plus Eli) each day. Last week was a little crazy. I think that it will get better as me and the kids adjust. I am watching a 3 year old(Grace), two that just turned 1 in the past 3 weeks(Alex and Emerson), one that will be 1 next week(Kennedy), my little boy who is 9 months old, and a 4 month old (Zach)(who is the same size as Eli). The 3 that are around 1 are pretty good. They are all walking and are content to play with all the toys. I just have to block off the kitchen and dinning room to keep them in the living room. The 3 year old loves to play with the little ones, but I think she gets bored easily. I feel bad that there isn't a playmate for her. Zach is a little more hands on. He is a very happy baby, as long as he is being held. It gets a little crazy in the afternoon when Eli wants to be rocked to sleep and Zach wants to be held. I do think it is already getting better. I think Zach just needs to get used to being with me and I think Eli really needs to be able to go to sleep without being rocked but I can't get him to at all and I don't think I can just let him scream until he falls asleep. It just breaks my heart.
Here are some pictures of a few of the kids I watch

Eli's 9 Month Pictures

I just picked up Eli's 9 month pictures. They are cute, but not near as cute as his 6 month pictures. That is what I get for having his pictures taken the same day as a shot and with no afternoon nap. That is alright. I wasn't quite ready to take down his 6 month pictures anyway. :-) And I am sure I can find room these too. :-)

I still think he is the cutest baby alive!

Eli On The Move!!!!

Eli loves his walker and he absolutely flies in it. Last night he made his way into the kitchen and kept doing circles around the table. I was laughing so hard.

Christmas Came Early!!!

Mike and I have been doing a lot of looking for Eli's Christmas. We have been looking online and in stores. We have actually almost finished his Christmas. There were a few things that we didn't agree on. Mainly there was a little toy that I wanted to get for Eli that Mike didn't think he would like. Since we couldn't agree we decided not to get it for him. Well yesterday we went over to Mike's parents to watch the Colts game. We walked inside and I saw that they had the toy. I said "oh look Mike, your parents have the toy" and Mike's mom said "No that is for you guys." I couldn't believe it. It had belonged to the little girl that Beth has been a nanny for for years and she didn't use it anymore. I was so excited. It looks brand new and all the parts still work great! Best of all is that Eli LOVES it!! It is perfect for him to stand next to and play.

A Good Night Sleep

So Eli still isn't sleeping through the night consistently. I thought that it was getting better until about a week ago. Then Eli started waking up everynight. Then he started waking up twice everynight and then he started waking up twice everynight and wanting to eat both times. It got to the point where I could hear his stomach growling. So I thought that it wasn't just normal night wakings. So I decided to give Eli more baby food during the day. I was doing 2 #1 jars for lunch and a #1 jar and a #2 jar of baby food for dinner. His pediatrician said that was fine because he would get what he needed from nursing. So on Thursday I gave Eli a #1 jar and a #2 jar of baby food for lunch and 2 #2 jars of baby food for dinner. Thrusday night Eli only woke up once and wanted to eat, but he only ate for a minute or two before falling back asleep. Since he did so much better I decided to keep it up on Friday. Eli didn't nap very well on Friday and was very tired. He ate his food really well (he always does) :-). When I went to nurse him at 7:00 he fell asleep within the first 5 minutes (he usually eats for at least 20 minutes). I held him for a few minutes thinking that he would wake back up and want to eat, he didn't. I laid him in bed thinking that he would wake up when I laid him down, he didn't. This was at 7:30. I went downstairs and watched some TV just waiting for Eli to wake up and want to eat. Finally at 10:30 I decided that I was tired and wanted to go to bed. I was sure that Eli would be waking up soon to eat since he didn't finish his last feeding. Boy was I wrong. Eli slept straight through the night. It was 7:30 AM before he woke up. He slept for over 12 hours!!! :-) It was so great and I only woke up once at 5:00 thinking that he was going to wake up. I got such a great night of sleep. I am definately going to continue feeding him more baby food and hope that this trend continues.

Just Me and Eli

Today it was just me and Eli. This is my first week watching more kids. I am watching 5 kids not counting Eli. They aren't all here everyday and it worked out this week that I didn't have any kids today. I definately enjoy my time with my wonderful little boy. It was probably a good thing that I didn't have any kids today. Eli has been battling a little cold and really needed his mommy today. Poor little guy has a yucky cough and he can harly breathe through his nose. His nose is also running and everytime I try to wipe it we have a major melt down. He was pretty fussy this afternooon and wouldn't take a nap. He wanted to be held, but he was still crying. I couldn't get him to calm down. I decided to take him for a walk to see if he would calm down. Once I put him in the stroller I didn't hear a peep. He just sat there and looked around as we walked through the neighborhood. We ended up walking for almost an hour and a half. He loved it. It's too bad that it is going to be too cold for walks soon. He does so good in his stroller.

Eli is starting to move around now. He isn't crawling yet but he is starting to realize he can move. He goes from sitting up to hands and knees. He then goes onto his tummy. From there he will either roll over or turn in a circle. He is usually trying to find someone to pick him up but at least he is moving. The other day during nap time I heard Eli fussing and went to check on him. When I looked in on him he was sound asleep on his side all cuddled up with his blankie. It was so cute. And last night after I put him in bed and went to check on him he was on his tummy. Before he has always laid perfectly still in bed. He is growing up so fast.
