Happy 9 Months Eli!!

I can't believe my baby is 9 months old already! Where has the time gone. Today I took Eli to his 9 month appointment. He weighs 17lbs 4 oz and is 27 inches. He went from being in the 50% to the 10%, but Dr. Jarvis said that was normal. He only had to get one shot, the flu shot, so that wasn't too bad. Then we went yesterday afternoon to get his 9 month picture (not a good idea after the shot) We did get a few good poses, but he wasn't his normal smiley self. But that is ok. I wasn't too sure I was ready to take down his 6 month pictures. They turned out too cute.

Our New Westie

No we didn't get another dog. Today I took Eli to story hour and he got wear his halloween costume. He sure makes a cute westie! He was definately the cutest kid there. There was an adorable little bumblebee there too. :-)

Last night Mike and I carved our pumpkins. It was so much fun. At first Eli was very in to what we were doing, but that didn't last too long. He got to have a teething cooking while we worked until it started to break off. I ended up holding him while I carved our pumpkins. I am really getting good at doing things with only one arm!

Eli's First Word!!!

It is official, my little boy is a talker. He has been able to make the sounds for ma, ba, and wa for a little while now and the past few days he has made the sound for da. Tonight we finally got a word. While Mike was playing with Eli he said Da Da. It was so cute. Mike said it again and Eli repeated Da Da. It melted my heart. I am so glad that Mike got to hear it too. Otherwise he probably wouldn't have believed me. I am still going to claim that ma was his first sound, but Da Da is officially the first word!!! I can't believe he is talking.

Grandma's Quilt for Eli

My mom has been making quilts for each of her grandchildren. She just finished Eli's quilt. She made the entire quilt by hand. I absolutely love it. I love wrapping Eli in it and rocking him. I know this is something that Eli will have forever. I love it love it love it love it!!!!!!! If you know me than you know how much I like Winnie the Pooh. Mike doesn't think that Winnie the Pooh is for boys, but I don't think there is any denying that this is a little boy's blanket!

Some Random Pictures

Eli and his bear named Bob. For a few weeks now Eli has been making the 'b' sound. Eli got this bear in the mail from Papa and Grandma Williams. When we gave him the bear he hugged it and said what sounded exactly like Bob. He kept saying it over and over. So the bear became Bob.

Eli used to be such a great eater. He would take a bite and sit waiting for the next bite. Very minimal mess. As you can tell not the case anymore. He still eats great and loves the food, but his hands go in his mouth and the all over his face. :-)

One day I thought it would be fun to see what Eli would do if I gave him the spoon. Now he wants the spoon after every bite!!

Getting ready for the Colts game. Hopefully they will have a better season than the Boilers!!

The walker is Eli's new favorite thing. As soon as his feet hit the ground he is zooming across the room. He has figured out how to turn around and he can fit into the smallest places. It is so fun to watch!

A New Tooth!

About 3 weeks of teething and a new finally popped through! That makes 3 teeth! I think tooth # 4 is right under the gums. Yay for teeth! :-)

Katie's Baby Shower

Today we (me, Tracy, Jackie, and my mom) threw Katie a baby shower here at my house. It was a blast. We had a great turn out. Not too many people RSVPed so I wasn't sure how many people to expect. We decided to play a couple games that we hadn't played at any of our family baby showers. For the first game we had the guests guess how big they thought Katie's belly was with a piece of yarn (this isn't mean because Katie has such a small baby belly, not fair!). My Aunt Michele won this game and she guessed the perfect amount! The secong game had babies in ice cubes and the first person that got their baby out had to yell "My Water Broke" and they won. It was very funny. Tracy also made a super cute calendar for everyone to guess the day that Sunjay will be born. I picked November 11th and I think it is a winner, especially since I was successfully able to guess the day Maya was born!!!

I can't wait to meet baby Sunjay, less than 5 weeks til Katie's due date!!!

I Love This Little Boy!!!

Eli slept from 8:30 last night to 7:45 this morning. He didn't even make a peep. And this morning when I heard him talking and went to get him he greeted me with a smile and a wave. It was so adorable. As we were coming downstairs he saw Maggie and waved to Maggie. He is in such a great mood when he gets a good night sleep, and I feel so well rested.

Yesterday we went to story hour at Barnes and Noble. Eli loves it. I wish we could go every week, but I will be watching more kids starting in November so we won't be able to go anymore :( Oh well, Eli enjoys playing with the other kids here and I want to start doing more with music and singing. That is his favorite part of story hour.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to the pumpkin patch up near where I grew up. It was so great. It was a little cold(in the 40's), but we still had a great time. It was a big family event. We met my dad, stepmom, and all 4 of my sisters and their families there. We got to go on a hay ride to pick our pumpkin right off the vine. We got 3 pumpkins, one for each of us. I can't wait to carve them this week hopefully. We also got to go to a petting zoo. Eli just watched the animals. He is really starting to notice more and more things. There were more things for the older kids to do. We got to watch Grace, Isaac, Olivia, Lily, and Maya go through the straw maze. Lily, Maya, and Olivia also rode on a barrel train ride. Eli will get to enjoy all of these things in years to come. :-)

After the pumpkin patch we went up to my mom's house for a family get together. My Uncle Tom and his wife Connie were here for a visit from Washington State. We haven't seen them in over 13 years. My cousin Annissa also came with 3 of her 5 kids. It was so great to see everyone.

Fun Day at Home!!

Eli and I have been having lots of fun at home today! Eli noticed the mirror on his exersaucer for the first time. He was playing in the exersaucer and I noticed he was laying his head down. At first I thought he was getting tired, but when I looked closer he was smiling into the mirror. It was so cute. Once he noticed that I was watching he would look into the mirror and smile and then look at me and smile. It was so adorable!!!!

I made some cookies today while Eli was playing on the floor. He did good for a little bit, but since he has been teething he has really wanted to be with me. I put him in his booster seat and gave him some frozen mango in his fruit net but he didn't want it. I then gave him a plastic bowl, lid, and cup. He was so excited about these things. :-)

Visit from Papa and Grandma Williams

Last Friday my dad and stepmom stopped by for a visit. It is always great to have visitors. Eli was a little cranky because of his teeth but enjoyed the company. This post is about a week late because I just got the cutest picture in the mail and had to post it. Thanks for stopping by for a visit Dad and Karen, and thank you for this adorable picture!

:-)

Not only has my wonderful baby been sleeping through the night, he took almost a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon. It was amazing. I got the entire kitchen cleaned, and I mean really clean. I even emptied the canisters and washed them. I don't know when the last time I did that was. ;) I must have the energy to clean because I have been sleeping better at night!

Now that Eli is sleeping through the night I need to work on getting him to go to sleep on his own. He used to be able to, but since his tummy issues I think he has gotten pretty comfortable falling asleep in his mommy's arms. So now everytime I lay him down for a nap in his crib he just cries and cries and it is too sad to just leave him in there crying.

Finally!!!

After almost 3 months of tummy troubles and sleepless nights Eli finally slept through the night on Friday and then again last night. Yay, hopefully this will become the trend. Unfortunately I didn't sleep well. I woke up quite a few times wondering when Eli was going to wake up and on top of that I didn't feel well so I was tossing and turning all night. Oh well at least my baby is sleeping well.

This past week we also started Eli on Stage 2 foods. We started with chicken and broccolli and he liked that. We then tried Mac and cheese and he sure didn't like that. The Mac and cheese is so thick so I think it was just such a surprise for him. I would give hime a bite and he would gag (fake of course) and spit it out. It was pretty funny. We will wait a little while and then try it again.

My favorite new thing that Eli does is try to crawl in to my lap. It is so cute. If I am sitting close enough to him when he is playing on the floor he will try to crawl in to my lap. He ends up just throwing himself face first onto my lap but then I pick him up and he gets what he wanted. :) After I pick him up he still wants to play, just while he is sitting on my lap. Such a smart boy we have.

Lazy Day

Yesterday was such a fun day for me and Eli. Since it was just the 2 of us we decided to be lazy. We stayed in our pjs all day. We played and played and played. When it was time for Eli's nap I let him sleep on my chest. I loved it. He is starting to get so loud. He is constantly spitting and last night he was squealing so loud. It was adorable. He is also teething right now. So mixed in with all the fun and adorableness he was a little cranky here and there because his teeth were bothering him. I don't think it will be too long before a top tooth pops through. :-)

We also had a first yesterday. Eli waved for the first time. For awile now when we waved at him he would get excited and both hands would get going, but yesterday he waved with one hand!!! And it wasn't just a fluke because he did it 6 times for me. But of course when it was time to show Daddy he wouldn't do it. Oh well, I know that he can wave :-)

What a Great Weekend!

Yesterday was Mike's Birthday and we celebrated the whole weekend. On Saturday we went to Mike's parents house for breakfast, we then got to watch the Purdue game. (well sort of) Mike had lots of homework to do so we checked on the game every once in a while. Eli got to wear his Purdue oufit though. :)

Too bad they lost

On Sunday Mike got to open his presents with the help of Eli. I then made him his favorite dinner and we had some Birthday Cake. Mike had to do homework all day but I still think he had a great birthday. Any day with Eli is a Great Day!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Daddy you take the card and I will take the present!

This got me so excited for Christmas!!!

Eli and I had a lot of extra fun this weekend. While daddy was doing homework we stayed busy. We went for walks each day, tried a new treat, and went to the playground in our neighborhood. I love to spend time with this little boy. It is so fun to see the new things that he likes to do. He is so content to go for walks around the neighborhood. He doesn't make a peep. He just sits there watching everything as it goes by. Yesterday was the first time I tried him in the swings at the park. He loved it. We will definately be doing this more often while we can. Hopefully it doesn't cool off too soon. Eli also got a new treat this weekend. I think his top teeth might be coming in. He has been a little bit fussier lately, he drools constantly, his nose has been running. To help his sore gums I gave him some frozen mango in his little fruit net. He loved it. At first he wasn't too sure what to do with it but once he got the hang of it he loved it.

October is Here

I can't believe that it is already October. These past 8 months have gone by so fast. In the past month Eli has learned some new things. He has been giving us fives, sticking out his tongue, scooting backwards (on occassion), and trying to pull himself up. He still loves to stand up and he is actually gaining some balance. He can even balance for a few seconds at a time now. He still isn't sure what to do when he gets to his hands and knees, but I think he is getting more comfortable. He has started rocking back and forth and he will try to move his arms but the legs are stuck. It is so fun to watch him. He eventually falls to his tummy and then gets upset. This boy sure hates tummy time. He would much rather sit up and play.

He is still having trouble sleeping through the night. It really differs day to day. I do think that it is getting better, but every once in awhile he will wake up 3-4 times in a night. He has had a little cold this week so his sleeping habits have been worse, but he did great last night. He went to bed around 8:30 and he woke up a little bit around 10:00 and I thought we were in for a rough night, but he went right back to sleep. He woke up at 1:30 and I fed him and got him back to sleep. Now it is almost 8:00 this morning and he is still asleep. Yay :-)

I can't believe that it is already fall, but I am so excited for the upcoming months. I am very excited for Halloween and Thanksgiving, but I am so excited for Eli's first Christmas. I am already thinking of what toys would be good for him at that age. It is going to be so much fun.
