Goodbye July, Hello August

July was a big month for Eli!
  • July 12th: Eli rolled over for the first (and only) time
  • July 16th: Eli started sitting up for short amounts of time
  • July22nd: Eli got cereal for the first time
  • July 28th: Eli got his first tooth
  • July 30th: Eli got a new cousin (Luke)

What a fun month we have had :) I am sure August will be just as fun!

Today I had Eli's 6 month pictures taken. He did such a great job. I was nervous that they wouldn't go well because of his tummy aches or teething, but he was adorable. He smiled the entire time and I was so happy that we got some pictures of him sitting up by himself!!! Yay!! What a big boy! The only bad thing is that I have to wait 2 weeks to get them back. I can't wait, but I guess I will have to.

Eli's First Tooth!!

Eli got his first tooth yesterday!!! Yay! I am so excited. I have constantly been checking his mouth for teeth and I finally found one. On Sunday I thought I felt a bump on the lower left side on the front of his gums and yesterday when I checked again there was a tooth. It doesn't seem to bothering him too much. He cried out once yesterday when he was chewing on a water bottle. He was a little fussy yesterday, but I think that was more of a tummy ache. He has still been really gassy ever since we started him on cereal last week. He is still having trouble sleeping at night, and when he wakes up he cries and pulls his legs up to his tummy. So I know that it is his tummy. I hope that he just needs to get used to the cereal and all will go back to normal, but for now I don't mind sleeping downstaris so he can be comfortable. He is such an angel!

This is the seat that Eli has been sleeping in for the past week. I am very thankful we have this, otherwise I don't think I would be sleeping at all!

Busy Weekend

MONDAY 7/28/08

We have had a busy weekend, it was full of friends and family :) Friday night Jackie came to visit. Eli loves his Aunt Jackie. She can really get him to smile. On Saturday Jackie, Eli and I went out to lunch my family. We have such a great time when we get together. After lunch my niece Alex came back with us to play the Wii and spend the night. Yesterday my friends Emily and Diana came over for a visit. I knew Emily was coming, but it was a surprise that Diana was here. I wasn't even sure that she was back in the country yet. It was so good to see both of them. They will always be my roomies.

So Eli has been eating cereal since Tuesday, also since Tuesday Eli has not been sleeping well. He has been waking up 4 or 5 times a night and sometimes he stays awake for an hour. Then when he finally falls back alseep and I lay him in his crib he immediately wakes up and screams. I finally figured out that he stays asleep in his bouncy seat. So for the past few days we have ended up downstairs in the middle of the night. Eli's doctor said to feed him his cereal in the morning instead of in the evening to see if that makes a difference. He has been very gassy the past few days so I am hoping that his tummy just needs to get used to the cereal and he will go back to sleeping through the night soon.

6 Month Dr Appointment

Today was Eli's 6 month Dr appointment. He will be 6 months old next Wednesday July 30th. Eli is 15 lbs 12 oz and 26 inches long. He only gained a little over 1 lb in the last 2 months. I thought he would be bigger than that :) Dr Jarvis said that Eli is a very healthy boy!! Eli had to get 3 shots today. We hate shots :( but I didn't cry this time. It is so hard to see my baby so upset and have to wait to pick him up and comfort him. Luckily he doesn't cry for long. After his 4 month shots Eli had a fever of 101-102 for the next few days so I will be watcihng very carefully over the next couple of days to make sure he is ok.

So Studious

One of my favorite things to do with Eli is to read books with him. Right now he is really into the Usborne Books with big bright pictures. He especially likes the red pages. He is such a fun baby!!

Eli's First Meal

Today was Eli's first meal!!! We started baby cereal and he absolutely loved it. At first he just let it sit in his mouth, but he got the hang of it pretty quick. He was smiling and laughing the entire time. It was amazing. We got the whole thing on video. What a fun day!!

Pink Party

Yesterday Eli and I went to Fowler for the 3rd (not so annual) Pink Party. This party was started 5 years ago to get all of the girls of the Williams Family together with my Grandma Joanne Williams. We did this for 2 years, but then my grandma was too sick to come to the party so we didn't for 2 years. Last August my Grandma passed away and my cousin Ashley thought we should honor her and have the party again. It was really great to get together with everyone. Everyone wore pink(except Eli) and we had a very girly day. It was a great way to honor Meme. Eli was the only boy there, but he was too little to leave anywhere. Although my mom sure did try to get me to leave him with her.

Eli and I then visited with my mom. It is so much fun to see her with Eli. She is so great with kids. Eli is the 12th grandchild on my side, but when he is with my mom you would think that he is her first and only grandchild. She is such a wonderful Grandma. While at mom's Eli got to swing outside for the first time. He loved it. :) It was so much fun.

Eli had another first this weekend. Since Eli does the best traveling in the morning and usually cries in the car in the evening, I decided that we would just spend the night at Grandma's. It was a lot of fun to spend some time with my mom and Jackie. Eli had fun too. He didn't sleep the best, but I didn't mind rocking him to sleep.

First Bottle :)

Today was a first for Eli. He has really been reaching for everything in our hands when we hold him, especially our water bottles. So today we decided to give him a little bit of water in a bottle. It was adorable. He put it right in his mouth, like he does with everything, and started to chew on it. He eventually got the hang of it and started sucking on it. He LOVED it!! We couldn't pull it away from him. It was so much fun to see. It was also nice to see Mike holding him and giving him a bottle. Since I am nursing Eli I do all the feeding. In the end Eli barely got any water from the bottle, but it was a good start. He is growing up so fast :) I think we are going to start baby cereal this week, so that should be fun.
We usually go to church at 11:00 on Sunday, but we went tonight since we will be gone tomorrow. It was a fun experience. When we go at 11:00 Eli usually naps during mass. Well he was wide awake for Mass tonight. He was laughing, smiling and squealing almost the entire time. It was so funny. He wasn't loud enough to be distracting, he was just having some fun. He always does so well during Mass. He is such a good baby, such a blessing :)

We love friends!!

Today has been a pretty uneventful day. Eli and I went to the grocery store store and that is always fun. I love to look at the baby clothes even if I am not going to buy any. Eli is finally growing out of his 0-3 months clothes. He fits really good into 3-6 months stuff, but there is a few 6-9 months outfits he can wear. If only all brands fit the same. Carter's is by far my favorite brand of baby clothes. They seem to fit really well and they are made to last. And plus Eli looks so darn cute in them. Especially blue to match his eyes.
We are still working on rolling over. He has still only done it that one time. When he lays on his tummy he has his arm spread out really far. From this position he doesn't know what to do. If I help him by moving one arm across in front of him he can roll over no problem. I know he will get it soon, but until then we are going to keep practicing.
We have also been working on sitting up more. He is doing really well with this. His balance has improved so much in the past few days. He still throws himself off balance, but I can't believe how well he is doing. I love seeing him learn new things everyday!

While today was uneventful, yesterday was a fun filled day. Eli and I went to the new mall with my friend Joanna. We walked around and checked out a few stores. We tried to go to Old Navy, but as we were walking into the store we realized that they weren't done building it yet! Oops! We didn't notice the big yellow sign that said coming soon.
After shopping around we got some lunch at Noodles. I had never been there before and I loved it. We were probably at the mall for a couple of hours. Eli slept for maybe 30 minutes is his carseat, in his stroller and was awake the rest of the time. He never fussed or cried. He just held onto his blankie and played with some toys. He is such a good baby. I thank God everyday for this blessing he has given us.
That was just our morning. Mike's Grandma is here visiting from Alabama. So last night we had her and Mike's parents over for dinner. It was such a fun eveing. We don't have company over that often and I really enjoyed playing hostess. I am so glad that we have had this time to spend with Mike's Grandma since we don't get to see her that often. This trip was the first time she had seen Eli. She has 24 Grandkids and 9 Great Grandkids (so far)! I am sure there will be plenty more babies in the family. I know there will be more babies in the Reger family. :)

So much for Rolling Over

I have been working so hard with Eli trying to get him to roll over again. He rolled over for the first time on Saturday 7/12 and he hasn't done it since then. And now everytime I lay him on his tummy he screams. It is a little bit funny because he isn't crying, just screamming. He is such a wonderful little boy.

Today we met my sister-in-law and niece Madeleine at Barnes and Noble for Story hour. At first I was thinking a 5 month old won't care for story hour, but I will have fun with Beth and Madeleine. Eli loves it. Before the story they do some music and rhymes. Eli loves for me to stand him up and he just looks around at everything. I had so much fun with him. I am definately going to keep going with him. We had so much fun with Beth and Madeleine. I feel blessed to have family so close, and it is gret that Eli has cousins so close in age.

When we got home I thought it would be fun to work some more on tummy time and rolling over. Eli didn't think so. What a silly boy. So I decided to try something different. We practiced sitting up and to my surprise Eli was so sturdy sitting up. He sat up by himself for over a minute before he started to lean over. I couldn't believe it. We have tried this before, but he always leans forward right away. I couldn't believe it. He doesn't want to roll over but he is going to sit up. Everyday this boy amazes me.

Here We Go!!!

HI!!! This is my very first blog!!! Yay! My sister-in-law has been blogging for the past 2 years to document her pregnancy and her baby girl. I have just started reading it recently and realized what a wonderful idea it is, so I am going to give it a try.

Here is a little bit about me. My name is Jenni. I just turned 25 a couple of days ago. I have been married to a wonderful man, Mike, for the past 3 years. We have 2 westies, Reggie and Maggie. And on January 30th of this year our beautiful baby boy Elijah Kent was born. He is the real reason for starting this blog.

I was ready to be a mom as soon as I got married. I couldn't wait get pregnant. We waited a little while so I could finish my teaching degree. (I guess that was important ) :) but then it didn't happen as easily as I expected. In May of 2006 we had an unexplained miscarriage at 11 weeks. That was very difficult, but we know that everything happens for a reason. The next several months were difficult, but I knew that God would bless us with a baby at the right time. In April of 2007 I completed my journey of becoming Catholic and I was baptized. 2 months later we found out we were pregnant:) It was such a blessing. I loved being pregnant. I had a pretty uneventful pregnancy, except having Gestational Diabetes, which was easily managed. Eli was born on January 30th at 4:35 pm. He was 3 weeks early, but he was a very healthy boy. 8lbs 3oz and 21 inches. He is perfect!!! I am so in love! Eli has been the best baby. I feel so blessed.

Eli is 5 1/2 months old now. We have so much fun. He rolled over for the first time yesterday. It took us 5 1/2 months but he did it!! Yay.

I am very excited to start this blog. I hope that I keep up with it. :)
