Jude's 9 Month Check Up

I took Jude for his 9 month check up today and it was all good! Much better than his 6 month check up. The Dr was very happy with the weight Jude has gained but she would like to see him get up to the 5oth% so we are still going to add the butter to his baby food and formula to his evening bottle and check his weight at his 1 year check up.
Jude's 9 Month Stats
Weight: 17lbs 8oz 10th%
Height: 27 3/4in 30th%
Head: 18 1/8in 75%

I saw a new side of Jude while we were at his appointment today. I think part of it was because he hadn't gotten much of a morning nap, but he didn't want anyone to hold him except for me. The nurse took him to measure him and get his weight and he just cried and cried and cried. Poor baby boy. He has really become aware of strangers and strange places. He even cried when I laid him on the table to change his diaper and I was the only one in the room at the time.
Here are a few pictures of my silly boy!

He's so cute, Jenni! You know, Avery was tiny too, and she still is! She has never broken the 10th percentile, and for awhile, she wasn't even on the chart! However, our pediatrician wasn't too concerned since she is growing, and Bill was a tiny little boy. His mom always talks about her putting butter on everything he ate! haha

Do you know what growth chart the Dr. is looking at? Most use growth charts based off formula-fed infants and these are not accurate for breastfed infants. Look at the WHO charts because they are appropriate for breastfeeding infants.

If Jude is happy and seems to be developing at a typical rate then there is probably nothing to worry about. Is there a breastfeeding support group like La Leche League or a Lactation Consultant in your area that you could talk to? I just hate that way doctors sometimes make mommies worry over nothing.

Thanks girls. We aren't too worried anymore. I do think there was cause for concern at his 6 month check up when he had actually lost the weight and weighed the same as he did at 2 months. But seeing how easily he put the weight back on just reassured us that he was fine and justwasn't getting enough calories. I don't mind adding the butter and formula to his foods. His evening bottle seems to be his favorite time of the day :-)As we are doing more and more table foods and less purees the butter is getting less and less and I am not worried at all that he will lose weight.

I just looked up Eli's 9 month check up post and he weighed 17lbs 4 oz, that is 4 oz less than Jude. I am happy that Jude caught up!
