Nap Time???

Since Eli hasn't been feeling well he hasn't been able to go to sleep on his own. I think since he is so congested it is hard for him to breathe while laying down. So I have been rocking him to sleep, which I don't mind at all. Well today I thought Eli was feeling a little better so I tried laying him down for his morning nap. He fussed for a little bit and talked for a little bit and then he was quiet. He had been quiet for quite a few minutes so I went upstairs to check on my angel. This is what I found:

He heard the camera and turned around with the biggest smile on his face.

He then went back to playing with the aquarium.

I love this little boy so much!!! Needless to say after he saw his Mama nap time was over. I guess no morning nap today. Oh well this little angel slept in until 8:00 this morning.

My Poor Baby Boy

Poor Eli just doesn't feel well. I took him to the doctor on Monday to get his second round of the flu shot. I was glad we were going to the doctors because Eli had a terrible cough and I could tell he didn't feel well. I really expected them to say it was just a cold and we had to just wait it out. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Poor Eli has his first ear infection :-(, and because he had a fever we weren't able to get the flu shot. He has been on antibiotics since Monday night and he is finally starting to feel better. Monday night was terrible, I didn't think I was going to get any sleep at all. I finally got him to sleep in his crib (I could easily get him to sleep in my arms) around 2:30 and then he woke up at 6:45. Yesterday was much better. He was fever free for most of the day. He had a fever of 100.4 in the afternoon, but that is much better than Monday. Last night was a much better night. I got him to sleep at 8:30 and he woke up about 10:30, but I was able to get him back to sleep in his bed easily. When Mike went to get him at 10:30 he found something new. Eli was sitting up in his bed. He has been able to go from laying down to sitting up for a few weeks now, but he had never done it in his bed until now. I am sure it won't be too long before we find him standing in bed. :-) Hopefully today Eli will be fever free. I can definately see that the antibiotics are working and he is getting better. Seeing my little baby sick is the worst thing ever.

Family Dinner

This weekend we were able to do something new. We ate dinner together as a family. We have all eaten together many times, but on Saturday we all 3 ate the same thing. Eli got to join us in eating spaghetti. I have really been struggling to try and think of what I can feed him. I don't know why this is so hard for me. So on Saturday I was fixing us spaghetti and thought if I cut it up small enough he should be able to eat it. He absolutely loved it. Usually when we start something new he makes a face right away, even if he likes it. With the spaghetti there was no face. He ate the first bite and immediately opened his mouth for more. He ate so good. We had plenty of leftovers so I cut them up really small and put them in some baggies and put them in the freezer. So when we are having something for dinner that Eli can't really eat I can just warm him up some spaghetti.
Last night I decided I wasn't going to do baby food again and was just going to feed him what we were eating. Unfortunately he wasn't feeling the best and when I gave him a bite of my mashed potatoes it was like his little heart broke. It was very sad. So last night he ate his baby food.

On Friday night I noticed that Eli was getting a cough. I wasn't surprised, it seems like all of the kids I am watching either have a runny nose or a little cough. I guess Eli is just building up some immunities. On Saturday the cough seemed to get a little worse and he had a very low grade fever. Yesterday Eli woke up with a fever of 101 and I could just tell that he was miserable. He hadn't slept well at all the night before. Throughout the day yesterday his fever went up and down and his cough kept getting worse. I also noticed that he was grabbing his left ear. Again last night Eli didn't sleep well. From 8:30 to 2:30 he woke up every 30-45 minutes and needed his mama. He then slept from 2:30-6:45 and let mommy get a little sleep. Today Eli already has a doctors appointment to get his 2nd round of the flu shot so I will just have the Dr check him out and make sure he is ok. Eli made it almost 10 months without having to go to the Doctors for being sick, and now has had to go twice in the last 2 weeks. Poor baby boy.

Eli's Crawling!!!!!!!!!

It was absolutely wonderful!!!!! Mike usually has class on Thursday, but didn't today so he was able to see Eli's very first crawl. The video is only the 3rd time he crawled. I am so excited. I really wanted him to be crawling by Christmas so he could crawl to his presents Christmas morning. I am so thrilled!!!!!

Remembering Our Angel

Today is a very special day for us. December 3, 2006 was the due date for our first pregnancy. I will always remember this date. I think of our little Angel in heaven very often and I know that heaven is the right place. God is taking care of our angel. At the time it was very hard for me, but I believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe that the reason I lost my angel was so that God could lead me to becoming Catholic. Since I had gotten married I had planned on becoming Catholic but didn't know when. After losing the baby I realized how important it was to me. I wanted to raise our children Catholic, and I wanted to be apart of every aspect of it. I wanted to fully understand it so that I could explain it to my children. If we would have had children before I became Catholic I don't know when I would have done it. I seem to have trouble leaving my child. :-) I thank God for leading me to become Catholic. I truly feel whole because of it. I know that this is the path I am supposed to take in life, and looking back I wouldn't change anything. If we had our angel then we probably wouldn't have Eli, and I wouldn't give him up for anything.

My Mom has made us a very special Christmas Tree Skirt. It says Mommy, Daddy, Elijah Kent, and there is room for all the names of our future children. It also has a very special little angel on it. It is so great to have out at this time of year.

I love you little angel of mine!

New Foods

So since Eli is 10 months old and has his 4 front teeth I figured we should probably start some table foods. Over Thanksgiving he got to try some mashed potatoes and some sweet potatoes and loved both of those. Yesterday I started Eli on some yogurt for breakfast. He made a terrible face with the first bite because it was so cold, but after the initial shock I couldn't feed him fast enough. He loved it. Yesterday I also started Eli with a banana. I tried cutting it up and putting it on his tray but he didn't want to touch it. So I mashed it up and fed it to him. For lunch today I fed him a banana again but this time I coated the cut pieces with smashed up cheerios (thank you Sam for that tip:-) ). He didn't mind touching them this way and he loved them. For dinner tonight I tried some peas and peaches. He wasn't too into the peas, but he loved the peaches. Each day we will just keep trying something new. That is the only way I know to do it.

Goodbye November, Hello December

I can't believe that it is already December. November went by in a flash, but it sure was a fun month. Eli has learned quite a few new things. He has really started moving now. He isn't quite crawling, but he is so close. He rolls everywhere. He can go from sitting up to his hands and knees and then back to sitting. He can turn completely around while sitting. He can scoot, but only does when something is just out of reach. He doesn't scoot across the room yet. Also this month Eli has begun talking more. He says Da da all the time and on Thanksgiving Day he started saying Ma ma. It is the sweetest sound. I will never be tired of hearing that.
