Isabel Annette

Here is Isabel Annette's birth story.

I honestly expected this pregnancy to only last into the 37th week just like my pregnancies with the boys. So when the 37th week past by and I was still pregnant I was very surprised. I went to bed each night thinking "ok tomorrow could be the day". Each morning I would wake up a little disappointed that I hadn't gone into labor. There were a few mornings that I woke up with contractions coming around 6 minutes apart. I would time them to see if they got any closer and after a few hours they would just disappear. Those days I was very disappointed. When 4th of July rolled around and I was still pregnant I had given up all hope and was convinced that she was just going to stay put. :-)

On July 5th I woke up around 3:30 am to go the bathroom and when I did there was a little bit of blood. I was excited because I knew this was the start of labor! I was having very mild contractions at that point so I went ahead and called into the Dr because I had tested positive for group B Strep and knew that I needed to get 2 rounds of IV antibiotics before she was born. The dr I spoke to is my least favorite dr in my practice. I explained what was going on and she told me that is was probably just my mucous plug and that she would see me at my next appointment 2 days later, um ok. I knew this was the beginning of labor so I decided to try and get some sleep until the contractions got stronger and then I would call back.

I slept very little after that. The contraction were steadily coming every 6 minutes and by 6:00 am they were getting pretty strong. By 7 they were so strong it was hard to lay still in bed so I decided to head downstairs and move around to see if the contractions would get closer together. Almost immediately the contractions were coming every 4 minutes as I walked around. At 7:40 I called into the Dr again. While I was waiting for the Dr to call back I started to get everything ready to go. The boys woke up and I got them dressed and ready to go to grandma's. The dr finally called back at 8:30 and said to head on in. We dropped the boys off and headed to the hospital!

We arrived at the hospital at 9:15 and were put in a triage room. It seemed like it took forever for the nurse to come in. At this point the contractions were getting soooo strong. It may have been the pain but it seemed like the nurse was moving so slow at everything she did. When she finally checked me I was 6 cm. We got moved over to a labor and delivery room a little after 10:00. They got me hooked up to IV fluids and the antibiotics were started. At about 10:30 I got an epidural and once it was in it started working immediately! As the anesthesiologist was leaving the room my dr walked in. He said he wanted to check me to see how far along I was and that once I got the antibiotics he would break my water. Well the plan changed after he checked me because I was already 10cm!! So the Dr broke my water and got ready and it was time to push. It couldn't have been before 11:00 AM when I started pushing and at 11:16 am Isabel Annette was born!

We feel so blessed to have this sweet baby girl in our family! She is already loved so much.

I didn't know we went to the same OB office! Not surprising since Beth goes there too though. :) Dr. Weiss delivered Avery too!
Anyway, so happy for you! She is beautiful! I also loved the big brother gifts. :)

Yeah I have been going to this dr office since we first moved to this area 5 years ago, it was just a coincidence that it was the same as Beth. I really love the Drs there. Dr. J Meltzer delivered Eli, Dr Pease delivered Jude, and now Dr Weiss delivered Isabel. I couldn't be happier with each birth experience. :-)
